LIVERMORE (CBS SF) – East Bay police have announced the arrest of a Livermore man in connection with a series of sexual assaults on women jogging over the past two months.
According to a release from the Livermore Police Department, effective December 5, the department’s Criminal Investigation Department began investigating a number of sexually assaulting shootings involving women jogging near the University of California jogging track. East Highway and Vasco Road.
Over the course of two months, police investigators were able to identify Willie Richardson, 35, of Livermore, as the sole suspect in the crimes.
Police arrested Richardson during a traffic stop on January 18 without incident. A search warrant was served at his home and detectives recovered items related to the suspect to the assaults.
Richardson was booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail on four sex counts as well as one felony count of assault with intent to commit a serious sex offence.
“I am proud of our team, who have worked tirelessly to identify the suspect and do our part to bring him to justice. Now, our community can rest a little easier knowing this man has been arrested,” Livermore Police Chief Jeramy Young said in the statement.
