Lions pass all stops, beat Green Bay in season finale – The Morning Sun

DETROIT (AP) – Aaron Rodgers hit two touchdown passes in the first half and sat out the second half unharmed as the Detroit Lions beat the Green Bay Packers 37-30 on Sunday.
Backup Jordan Love threw two interceptions late in the game, ending a loss that didn’t affect Green Bay’s playoff spot.
NFC North Packers champion (13-4) rolls in at Motor City after claiming the tournament’s No. 1 seed and saying goodbye to the first round.
Rodgers, the reigning NFL MVP, who could win the award for a fourth time, is 14 of 18 for 138 yards.
He threw a 1-yard pass to Allen Lazard to get through 13 plays, 74 yards took 7:18 clocks to open the game and a 29-yard pass to fourth-year recipients late in the second quarter for a another score.
Rodgers replaced his helmet with a baseball cap at halftime and watched the rest of the game from the sidelines at a disadvantage.
The Lions (3-13-1) closed off coach Dan Campbell’s first season with much pride and some games with nothing to lose.
With the win, however, they lost a shot at getting the #1 pick in the probable NFL draft because Jacksonville toppled Indianapolis.
The tough Lions tied it seven goals late in the first half as the rarely used Tom Kennedy ended with a backball and threw a 75-yard touchdown pass for Kalif Raymond.
Detroit took a 24-13 lead in the third inning in a backflip with Jared Goff throwing a 36-yard touchdown pass to Brock Wright.
Love sent Josiah Deguara a 62-yard touch-first pass, remaining 4:49 in the fourth inning, but the Packers could not keep the win.
D’Andre Swift scored on the 14-yard run with 1:54 time remaining to put Detroit ahead.
CJ Moore blocked Love’s pass at Green Bay 36 to the next property after it was blocked by midfielder Jalen Reeves-Maybin, setting up Riley Patterson to put the Lions ahead with a touch of the ball. .
Love intercepted a second time with 21 seconds remaining.
Illnesses
Packers: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling left the game with a back injury. …OT David Bakhtiari, a 2020 All-Pro, starts and plays for the first time since tearing his left ACL on December 31, 2020.… C Josh Myers starts after being knocked out of IR on Thursday. Seven. The second-round rookie from Ohio State has been out of action since suffering a knee injury on October 17 in Chicago.
Lions: OT Taylor Decker (foot) and C Evan Brown (ankle) were injured in the match.
