Lil Scrappy opens up about the childhood trauma he suffered with Momma Dee, which comes years after Momma Dee’s ongoing feud with Bambi
Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star lil scrappy recently confronted his mother mom dee about the trauma he suffered as a child watching her make money as a pimp.
The rapper’s revelation comes years after the feud between Momma Dee and his wife Bambi. The couple’s public slurs came from Momma Dee, who shared Lil Scrappy and Bambi’s relationship woes online, and the 59-year-old, who maintained a friendship with her son’s ex, Shay Johnson. Momma Dee’s friendship with Johnson led to Lil Scrappy temporarily cutting ties with her.
On the November 7 episode, Lil Scrappy shared that many of the issues he has with his wife, Bambi, stem from his unresolved childhood trauma.
While addressing Bambi and Momma Dee at his “LHH:ATL” co-star Spice’s party, Lil Scrappy said, “I just want to say this: you, my mom, this is my wife. I have nobody if you’re not with me. I don’t have anyone… You have to stop because you don’t have anyone. That should make you support this even more. Because you know I want someone.”
While pointing at Bambi, he continued, “You know what I mean. I’m in love with all of this. Do you know why I’m the way I am with her?”
Momma Dee replied, “Because of what you saw me go through.” Lil Scrappy said it wasn’t his mother’s previous relationship that contributed to how he acted as a man, but rather her lifestyle as a pimp.
The 38-year-old said: “I grew up in a brothel. I grew up in a trap house so that’s all I knew. And I love you because you held it down and did what you had to do, but imagine you never had to sleep with your mama 24/7 because you couldn’t go to your room
As the conversation continues, Lil Scrappy becomes visibly upset as he describes what he believes to be horrors he saw as a young child. “You never had to walk in on dope on motherf-kers… The way I grew up and I had to deal with it, cuz.” I had to deal with it and I still deal with it because nobody takes me and doesn’t get me help. Nobody helped me. I learned that as I got older. That’s not real, cuz. I’ve had that in my head all my life.”
Lil Scrappy concluded his testimony by saying that while he understands he needs help to overcome his trauma, he will not smack his mother for the lifestyle she chose because Momma Dee’s past life as a pimp contributed to it to take care of him and also his rap career.
He said: “In my head, what I’m going through, I can’t go to her; she hard. I can’t go to you; you hard So I’m on the concrete, my na… But you know what? I don’t take anything from you because you brought me there. You put money in my shit. You gave me st to help my rap career and all that st. Nobody does that but you. So I love my mom and I love my wife. you feel me.”
After Lil Scrappy’s remarks, he and Momma Dee hugged. During a confessional, Momma Dee also acknowledged that she had played an adverse role in her son’s marriage.
She said: “I was the best mother I could be. I am not a perfect person nor a perfect mother. Nobody is. But I want to turn a new cheek myself and get this family back to where it needs to be. I am willing and ready to forgive him and his wife because we are meant to be family and we should act like family. We should pray together and stay together.”
Immediately after the “LHH:ATL” episode aired on VH1, Momma Dee took to her Instagram account and expressed how much she loved her children: Lil Scrappy and her daughter Jasmine Brown.
She wrote: “A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. She knows no law, no pity, she dares everything and mercilessly crushes everything that gets in her way. I love my children more than anything in this world…”
In the past, Momma Dee has clapped to fans who continue to cast shadows over her friendship with Shay Johnson.
In an Instagram post shared on Johnson’s page on July 28, Momma Dee, who is seen spending a lot of time with Johnson’s daughter Shajiyah, told the naysayers that her relationship with Johnson was out of pure love and nothing to do with Bambi or Lil Scrappy have to do.
Momma Dee also suggested fans should keep her out of it when they tried to speculate that Johnson’s baby was Lil Scrappys, which the The Flavor of Love star denied.
