Les Films du Losange has completed a number of important contracts for Kasja Naess’ animated film, Titina, which is being produced by the teams behind the Oscar-nominated film The Triplets of Belleville and the Oscar-winning short, The Danish Poet.
‘Titina’ will have its world premiere at the Animation Is Film Festival, taking place October 21-23, and is being produced by GKids in association with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Variety.
The US$8.5 million Norwegian animated film was produced by Mikrofilm (“The Danish Poet”) and Vivi Film (“The Drillings of Belleville”). The film tells the true story of a fox terrier who accompanied his master on an expedition to the North Pole in a hot air balloon in the 1920s. It is published in Norway by Norsk Film Distribusjon and in France by Les Films du Losange.
Les Films du Losange, whose distribution team is led by Alice Lessort, underlines the great commercial potential of the film and has sent the film to Germany (Grandfilm), Italy (BIM), Sweden (Folkets Bio), Finland (Filmkompaniet), Belgium, The Netherlands (Lumiere Publishing), Hungary (ADS), Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania (Estin Film), Poland (Vivarto), Iceland (Sena), Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia (Megacom Film ), Ukraine (Arthouse Traffic), Romania (Contactory Studio) and Kazakhstan (Aldongar).
The film follows Umberto Nobile, an Italian airship engineer who leads a quiet life with his beloved dog, Titina. One day, Norwegian explorer superstar Roald Amundsen contacts him and orders an airship to conquer the North Pole. Nobile takes the opportunity to go down in history. He brings Titina with him and the unlikely trio embarks on an expedition to the last undiscovered place on earth.

Naess’ work includes Nine Nation Animation, which screened at the Tribeca and Annecy film festivals.
