It remained as tense as day two of the press tour when Leigh Wood and Michael Conlan spoke to the media about their WBA featherweight title fight.
Wood (25-2, 15 KOs) defended his title against Conlan (16-0.8 KO) at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on March 12, live on DAZN.
After their first press conference in Nottingham on Wednesday, the boxers then headed to Belfast on Thursday, and things have started right where they left off.
Wood said: “I am a boxer. I did everything back on my own the hard way. I don’t think Mick has ever been in a 50-50 fight. This was new to him, but I did it and came out on top. I thrive on pressure.
“Mick is trying to convince himself. My greatest asset cannot be said together, my dedication is everything. I don’t need to pay attention to his performance. I knew exactly what I was going to do.”
Conlan said: “There is no fear in me. I can fight now and I’m ready to go. Leigh doesn’t and he doesn’t need teamfights, but I’ve been pro and training since September.
“I’ve been in shape and staying healthy, and on March 12 you’ll hear And The New. I know exactly what it feels like to have to fight under that pressure when playing at home. I fought there three times and I get it. He doesn’t know what it’s like. He’s not going to beat me and it’s as simple as that.
“This fight means something to me. I took myself away from both of my children and this is my life. The only thing I know is boxing and believe me on March 12 I will win.”
