Leicester unveils statue honoring former leader Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha

Members of Leicester City’s 2016 title-winning squad, former managers including Claudio Ranieri and dignitaries joined the friends and family of the late club chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha at a special dedication ceremony of his statue outside King Power Stadium.

Current coach Brendan Rodgers and his squad were also present at Khun Vichai’s 64th birthday ceremony, which was attended by former coaches Nigel Pearson and Craig Shakespeare.

His son and current Leicester City chairman, Khun Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha, and his family were joined by distinguished guests to celebrate Khun Vichai’s Leicester legacy.

Khun Vichai died along with staff members Kaveporn Punpare and Nusara Suknamai, and pilots Eric Swaffer and Izabela Lechowicz in a tragic helicopter accident outside the stadium in October 2018.

Also present were representatives from Leicestershire Police, Leicestershire Fire & Rescue and the East Midlands Ambulance Service, who played such a crucial role in the community’s response to the accident.

The statue will be available to backers starting tomorrow.
