Lee Schroder has been appointed chief executive in CAA’s film marketing department.
Schroder joins Netflix’s powerhouse agency. Reporting to Division Head Megan Crawford, she will advise clients on all aspects of a film marketing and distribution strategy for theatrical and streaming releases. The marketing team works closely with CAA Media Finance, led by Roeg Sutherland and Benjamin Kramer, who finance and package many of the mid-budget indie and commercial offerings.
Schroder will also advise the CAA List on festival and awards campaign strategies and will curate the agency’s high-impact Tastemaker screenings.
At Netflix, Schroder worked on campaigns for Peter Chernin’s imaginative “Fear Street” trilogy; Ryan Reynolds time travel film The Adam Project; the blockbuster Red Notice, starring Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot; and the soon-to-stream Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington project The School for Good and Evil. She also oversaw release and awards campaigns for Oscar winners Mank directed by David Fincher and Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story.
Schroder began her career as a sales representative in Atlanta with Allied Global Marketing. While there, she supported a range of lifestyle and film clients, with a focus on The Walt Disney Company’s film roster. She also promoted locally shot Marvel productions in the now-established southern superhero haven. The hiring is something of a homecoming, as Schroder worked as an assistant at CAA early in her career.
Representing entertainment and sports talent, CAA recently completed a landmark acquisition of longtime rival ICM Partners, significantly expanding its ranks and client list.
