LeBron lashes out at “dweeb” basketball writers for disrespecting Ja Morant

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James challenged basketball writers for putting the Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant on the pick for Most Improved Player.

During the NBA Playoffs, the Memphis Grizzlies’ Ja Morant showed he’s one of the brightest young stars in the league. He was a hero in the team’s first-round win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he wants to do the same against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Semifinals.

When Game 2 took place on Tuesday, May 3, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James called Morant a “full throttle star” and that he shouldn’t have been in the Most Improved Player of the Year talks. Then he took aim at “Dweebs”.

Morant receiving the Most Improved Player of the Year award seemed strange to some, considering he averaged 19.1 points and 7.4 assists in 63 games the year before. Yet that’s exactly what happened when Morant received 38 first-place votes to win the award against Dejounte Murray of the San Antonio Spurs and Darius Garland of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Grizzlies star became the first player in NBA history to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Player.

In the playoffs, Morant averaged 27.4 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.7 rebounds in 57 games. The third-year player shot 49.3 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from the three-point line.

In the first two quarters of Game 2 against the Warriors, Morant had 25 points (7 from 12 from the field), shared five assists and recorded two steals.

All LeBron wanted to do was show some respect to Morant’s name.
