LeBron James, LA looking to redeem his former lottery ticket

It’s no secret that at least for now, LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers does not look exactly like the team of the caliber that many believe they will arrive before the season even begins. With the deal deadline fast approaching, it looks like LA might be looking for a way shake everything in their lineup as rumors have now surfaced of a potential former lottery target.

Based on J. Michael of Indianapolis Star (registration required), the Lakers are one of the few teams that have set their sights on Indiana Pacers move Jeremy Lamb as a potential commercial target. NS Charlotte Hornets is also said to be interested in the 29-year-old veteran, as well as two other unnamed teams. Needless to say, it looks like lamb will become a hot commodity as we get closer to the February trading deadline.

Lamb is currently on an expiring contract with the Pacers, which means he will become a free agent during the off-season. This makes him even more attractive to teams like the Lakers as they won’t be tied to a long-term deal with Lamb if they successfully get him from the Pacers. It’s also important to note that Jeremy Lamb is set to make $10 million this season, so the Lakers will need to make some salary cap moves if they bring in the former 12th team. It’s unclear from the report what the Lakers plan to give up in a potential deal with Indiana.

In 19 starts this season for the Pacers, Lamb has averaged 7.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.2 triples per game on a 39.7 percent clip.
