League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics players who logged into the game saw startling news that caused a lot of panic in social media communities like Reddit. Countless players have received a “permanent ban” message, with people noticing that their accounts have been banned for no reason. Also gaming journalist Jacob Wolf found his account permanently banned today.
However, players discovered that this permaban appears to be a false positive. Most players attempting to log back in after a few attempts are able to get back into the game, meaning this appears to be a bug on Riot’s part. Some players have to log in multiple times as players are reporting that they have to log in 2-3 times to get back into the game.
Unfortunately, there are cases where players are unable to login after several attempts and reach a login limit that prevents them from logging into the game. Some players are also reporting difficulties submitting support tickets due to the en masse players logging into the site to report these issues.
To date, Riot Games has not released a statement regarding this issue. This bug affects both League of Legends and the TFT mobile client. Other Riot Games like Valorant and Wild Rift don’t seem to be affected at this time.
