Leaders are said to have joined Stephon Gilmore for the right price

The Kansas City Chiefs may be racing to add Stephon Gilmore to his NFL free agency.

If dollars make sense, then consider Chief of Kansas City a group that is likely to sign longtime Pro Bowl linebacker Stephon Gilmore this season.

Jeffri Chadiha reports Kansas City as a possible landing spot for Gilmore in NFL Free Agent if “price drops.” Former South Carolina and Rock Hill standout player, the South Carolina native spent the latter part of last season playing for his hometown Carolina Panthers. Before that, Gilmore had an incredible career with the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots.

While Gilmore is about to get his fifth Pro Bowl nod, 2022 will be his season at 32 in NFL.

Signing with Gilmore meant two things. The first means he will replace Charvarius Ward at full-back in the sub-captain. Ward signed with the San Francisco 49ers in his free agency. The other means that Tyrann Mathieu will almost certainly not return. Mathieu was a famous name like Gilmore, but he would be too expensive to bring back with Gilmore.

For someone as great as general manager Brett Veach navigating pay caps, even he couldn’t get over the tough financial problems the Directors have faced this season. Again, this is the downside of paying large sums for a star full-back. Patrick Mahomes is worth every penny, but his larger slice of the pie costs other players their own.

This is why the Chiefs let Ward walk, traded Tyreek Hill for Miami Dolphins and could see The Honey Badger leave his free agency as well. While the Leaders will do a great job by adding a famously high-level corner behind their defence at Gilmore, there’s no doubt we the Captains, or any team for that matter, won’t pay him for what he’s already using?

Given the right price, Gilmore was right for the Chiefs, but they couldn’t pay him a high price. Leaders are said to have joined Stephon Gilmore for the right price
