Laurel Park Cancels Monday Card Due to Winter Weather ‘Stinging Effect’ – CBS Baltimore

LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) – The live race at Laurel Park was canceled Monday due to the “lasting effect” of a winter storm that brought freezing snow and rain to the area, the Jockey Club of Maryland said.
Last Wednesday, the Maryland Cycling Club canceled the card on friday and saturday for rail maintenance work, but announced plans to resume operations on Sunday.

All 10 races take place on Sunday, with snow starting to fall around Race 6, an immunity contest for 3-year-olds, according to official Equibase records. Free Square won that race in 10 lengths and returned $4.20 on a $2 winning bet.

The organization says Laurel Park, Rosecroft Raceway and all MJC off-track betting sites will be open to bets via simulcast.

The live race at Laurel is scheduled to resume on Thursday, January 20 with a 10-race program.
