Latest news on Johnny Gargano’s contract status with WWE

It looks like Johnny Gargano has agreed to a new contract with WWE but he will stick around for a while longer to complete his current storyline.

Fight is reporting that Gargano has signed a one-week extension so he can wrestle at NXT WarGames, where he will be part of the old school team against the school’s new group of wrestlers. Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa officially reunited on last night’s episode of NXT 2.0.

Gargano’s deal was originally set to expire on December 3, but the extension will drag him through to December 10. This is similar to what Adam Cole did. His deal expires in July but he signed a short-term extension so he can complete it at the TakeOver show in August.

At this point, it looks like Gargano has signed a long-term contract but WWE wants to keep him and Dave Meltzer reported last week that he had been offered a good deal to stay. Gargano is a behind-the-scenes favorite and arguably Shawn Michaels’ favorite but it’s unclear what the future holds for him when the time comes for him to be moved up to the starting XI.

If Gargano leaves, one has to assume that AEW will offer him a deal as he is an excellent wrestler and he has a lot of friends there. Latest news on Johnny Gargano’s contract status with WWE
