Larsa Pippen defends wearing box braids on real Miami housewives

In the third part of the reunion episode of The Real Housewives of Miami, the 48-year-old reality star reiterated her decision to style her hair like this after a viewer noticed she rocked the braids during the cast’s journey to Die Bahamas.

“As I watched the banter for the season, I noticed you wore pigtails in the Bahamas,” host Andy Cohen read out a fan request. “Fashion-wise, you can pull it off. But do you think it’s really culturally appropriate? I think you’re going to get a lot of backlash.”

Pippen largely disagreed: “I mean, I’m not white,” she said. “Well, I don’t know — my mom used to wear pigtails.”

“I have a braider that comes in every 10 days and braids my kids’ hair… My son has literally had pigtails for the last four years,” the OnlyFans model said of her kids’ haircuts. Larsa shares four children: Scotty Pippen Jr., Sophia, Justin and Preston with her ex-husband Scottie Pippen.

“I’m going on a trip, I don’t want to have to worry about my hair, I’ll let her braid my hair,” she added.

The television personality further defended her history of wearing pigtails by pointing out her origins, saying her grandparents are of Moroccan while her parents are of Lebanese and Syrian descent.

“My grandparents are Moroccan,” Pippen continued. “My mom had pigtails when she was a kid. I’ve braided my hair every time I went on vacation for as long as I can remember. My hair was braided in my honeymoon pictures. When I was 18, my hair was braided in braids. I always wore pigtails when I traveled.”

The show’s friend Kiki Barth also commented on the decision after some research from Cohen, saying: “I think everyone should rock what they want. As long as it looks good on you, I think we should just take it. “
