Released by the government, these photos show Larry Ray and the Sarah Lawrence dormitory where he found his alleged victim: Slonim Woods 9.

Sarah Lawrence accused of sex “cult” leader Larry Ray laundered money through his daughter’s links to Democrats in North Carolina, laundering several of his alleged illegal robberies through ActBlue, prosecutors claimed.

The accusation appeared on Tuesday during the second day of witness The victim’s testimony is attributed to Ray Felicia Rosariowho described transferring money from Ray to his daughter Talia Ray, who was then working for a political candidate in North Carolina. Ray’s accused accomplice Isabella Pollok also contributed to the campaign, Rosario said.

Assistant US Attorney Danielle Sassoon preview that line of question during the arguments after concluding the testimony and after the jury went home Monday afternoon.

“Then in terms of Act Blue NC Democrats, the government alleges that money was laundered in this case, including with Talia Ray,” Sassoon told the US District Judge. Lewis Liman in Monday. “You will see on this slide as an example that she directly received $34,690, but during this time period she is also working in North Carolina for the Democratic party. That is her job. ”

Sassoon signaled at the time that Rosario would testify that she had been instructed to make payments to ActBlue for Talia Ray’s benefit — “and that directly led to money laundering,” the prosecutor added.

During her second day in the witness stand on Tuesday, Rosario testified that Ray sent her money forward to Talia Ray, who has not been charged. Rosario noted that Talia Ray was working for a Democratic politician at the time. Although the names of politicians were not pronounced in court, a The defendant’s daughter’s LinkedIn page showed that she worked for the failed North Carolina House of Representatives candidate Lowell Simon in 2018.

As first reported by New York PostProfile compiled by Open Secrets show transparency group Felicia Rosario’s four maximum donations to North Carolina Democrats and Simon. Rosario donated twice to Simon for a maximum amount of $2,600 and twice to the state party in amounts of $5,000 and $5,500 in 2018, according to records. Pollok donated up to $2,600 to Simon’s campaign and $5,200 to the state’s Democrats that same year, records show.

A press email investigation sent to Simon’s now-defunct campaign email has bounced back and appears to be no longer active. Simon’s hosting site doesn’t list the phone number. Neither the politician nor the state political party has been accused of any wrongdoing.

Ray’s defense attorney Neil Kelly tried to keep the information off the jury, arguing it would risk causing “unwarranted prejudice”.

“If jurors have strong political feelings, if they think the money is going to the Democrats, then we think that would be unduly detrimental,” he said.

Judge Liman, a Donald Trump appointees, allowing evidence to be entered and refusing to compile political references.

When she first stood up, Felicia Rosario said she fell into Ray’s orbit through her brother Santos Rosario, a Sarah Lawrence student and the first alleged victim to testify. She said that her relationship with Ray soon turned romantic. Although they were never married, Ray called her his “wife,” and she called him her “husband,” she said. She also testified that he pushed her into extreme sexual situations, forced her to have sex with strangers and considered becoming an escort.

Unlike the previous witness Claudia DruryFelicia Rosario testified not to switch prostitution. She said that Ray had previously accused her of damaging property and poisoning him and offered her to become an escort to pay him back. Drury previously testified that he suggested the same reason.

During cross-examination, Ray’s defense argued that her client’s fear of poisoning was not entirely unrealistic. Rosario admitted that Ray required medical attention at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center because of elevated mercury levels. He also found a rare spider, commonly found in Australia, in his stepfather’s property in North Carolina, the witness admitted.
