Lakers’ LeBron James overtakes Kobe Bryant to become NBA’s all-time goal scorer for Christmas

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James made a historic break on Saturday. With a scoring record against the Brooklyn Nets, James overtook Kobe Bryant to become the NBA’s all-time top scorer at Christmas.

Bryant scored a total of 395 points in 16 Christmas games in his career. Entering Saturday’s contest, James needed just 13 points to overtake the Lakers legend, and he officially eclipsed Bryant with a pair of free throws late in the second half.

The record is testament to the longevity of James, who played in his first Christmas game as a rookie in 2003. Saturday’s match marked the 16th time James had played on Christmas Day, the game. The match that stuck him with Bryant the most of all time. In those games, the star forward averaged 25.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.1 assists while shooting 29.4% from outside the arc. James represented Cleveland Cavaliers (for two periods), Miami Heat, and now the Lakers at Christmas, and have amassed a 10-5 record in those competitions.

This isn’t the first time James has overtaken Bryant on one of the tournament’s rosters. Last year, he also overtook Bryant to come third on NBAAll-time goalscoring list – an achievement he doesn’t take lightly because of the respect he has for Bryant.

“I had the pleasure of chatting with Kobe Bean Bryant, one of the greatest basketball players of all time to ever play, one of the Lakers’ all-time greats. The man with two jerseys. hangs at Staples Center,” James said of Bryant after overtaking him on the scoresheet last year, via ESPN. “That’s another guy I was looking for when I was in high school and high school. Seeing him come straight out of high school, he was my inspiration.

“It was like, wow. Seeing a kid, 17, come into the NBA and try to make an impact on the franchise, I took it as motivation. He helped me before he knew me. So just to be able, at this point in my career, to share the same jersey he’s been wearing, to join the calendar franchise. this history and only represents purple and yellow, it’s very modest, and it’s dope.”

James has long been known as “The King,” and now he’s officially the king of the NBA over Christmas. Lakers’ LeBron James overtakes Kobe Bryant to become NBA’s all-time goal scorer for Christmas
