Kurt Angle wrestles part-time for WWE through 2019 and 2020 in addition to the role of Raw General Manager.
Angle decided to retire from an active wrestling career and had his final match at WrestleMania 35 when he lost to Baron Corbin. He used to work as a behind-the-scenes producer for WWE, but was let go by WWE in 2020 due to budget cuts.
In an appearance on Talk Is JerichoAngle said he feels if he continues to wrestle for WWE they will use him to replace other talents.
“Wow, Vince [McMahon] said, “Well Kurt, you can do it next year.” I said, ‘Vince, I’m retiring this year.’ He said, ‘Well if you wait another year, I can do it for you.’ I said, ‘No, no, I’m going to do it this year’ because there’s no way I’m going to wrestle another year, especially in WWE because all they’re going to do is help me lose the year. , I know – I can see the writing on the wall and I don’t know if I want to be a part of it. ”
WWE Hall of Famer was later offered as Matt Riddle’s manager on SmackDown, but Angle rejected it. According to Angle, the two reasons he didn’t take on the role was because he was focused on his physically fit Diet and WWE didn’t provide him with enough money for the role.
