Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Pictures Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, and Kristine Belson, Frontrunner of Sony Pictures Animation, will be featured speakers at VIEW Conference 2022, being held October 16-21 in Turin, Italy. Naito and Belson will be present in person as the conference largely returns to an on-site event.
In her role at Paramount and Nickelodeon, Naito oversees animation across all platforms: linear, digital, made-for-TV, theatrical and SVOD. She is behind successful Nick projects such as Star Trek: Prodigy, PAW Patrol: The Movie and the expansion of the SpongeBob SquarePants universe. She is also behind the upcoming Paramount theatrical releases of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, produced by Seth Rogen and Point Gray Pictures, and The Tiger’s Apprentice, directed by Raman Hui. She will speak about these projects and more at the conference.
Belson, who took over as SPA helm in 2015, will discuss the studio’s 20 years of innovation, including its hits Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. The Machines and the popular Hotel Transylvania. Franchise. She talks about the studio’s most impactful creative breakthroughs, what sets SPA apart from other studios, and some of its plans for the future.
Also speaking at the conference is Cartoon Saloon co-founder Nora Twomey, who will be introducing her upcoming Netflix film, My Father’s Dragon. Twomey received the Visionary Award at the VIEW Conference in 2018.
Additional speakers include The Sea Beast director Chris Williams and producer Jed Schlangner; and Shannon Tindle and Peter Ramsey, who will be speaking about their Netflix series Lost Ollie.
In addition to its speaker list, the VIEW conference features a special masterclass with Georgina Hayns, Puppet Creative Director on Guillermo del Toros Pinocchio, directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson, due out in select theaters in November. In addition, Mark Hewis, Director of Aardman Academy, will host a workshop on The Art of Stop Motion Production.
The conference will also feature a special track dedicated to the Metaverse. Speakers on this track include Epic Games Unreal Engine Vice President and General Manager Marc Petit; and Guidi Quaroni, Senior Director of Engineering, 3D and Immersive at Adobe; and Julien Fournie Haute Coutures Julien Fournie and Jean Paul Cauvin presenting their vision of how arts can be combined in the Metaverse.
Speakers on the gaming front will include technical artist and gaming guru Simon Verstraete, digital artist Scott Eaton, and Housemarque’s Risto Jankkila and Sharman Jagadeesan, who will be introducing the sci-fi shooter game Returnal.
