Kirby and the Forgotten Land still tops the Japanese charts and has now sold over half a million copies

Kirby and the Forgotten Land has maintained the top spot in Japan for the third straight week. The pink puffball’s first major foray into full 3D gameplay was a huge success for Nintendo and HAL Laboratory in Japan, with box sales alone already topping half a million copies in the country.

Thanks to Famitsu (and Google Translate), we know that Kirby and the Forgotten Land sold approximately 59,960 copies in Japan between April 4th and 10th. This has pushed the game’s total sales in Japan to 550,966 copies. The Forgotten Land is an ongoing success story for Nintendo and HAL Laboratory following its March 25 release, where it won the crown for the series’ biggest launch in Japan.

The remainder of the weekly top ten in Japan consists of eight other Nintendo Switch titles (including the ever-popular Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) and Elden Ring for PS4, which sits in sixth place. The Switch, meanwhile, continues to lead weekly hardware sales in Japan, which have now sold nearly 25 million units in the country.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a huge success story for the series. The continued success in Japan is also being matched to some extent in the UK. Kirby has been at the top of the UK physical charts for at least a couple of weeks and is the country’s best-selling Kirby game following its opening weekend.
