Following Nintendo’s announcement to release PlatinumGames’ popular action role-playing game Nier: Automata coming to the Switch later this yearsome players are requesting that Square Enix create native ports for the Kingdom Hearts games as well.
During yesterday Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcasethat’s what Square Enix announced Nier: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition coming to Switch on October 6th. The switch port includes previously released add-ons like the “3C3C1D119440927” DLC as well as new costumes.
In a follow-up blog post, the official Japanese kidney Twitter account confirms that the switch port is running at 30 frames per second with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 in the dock and a resolution of 1280 x 720 in handheld mode. While Nier: Automata fans shared memes in response to how bad The end of the YoRHa edition could run on Nintendo’s modest hardware, Kingdom Hearts Fans demanded that Square Enix back down Kingdom Hearts the same treatment with freeing a native port on the switch.

“How tf was able to get Square kidney Running at 1080p at 30 fps but couldn’t bother to port it natively Kingdom Hearts LMFAO”, wrote one Twitter user.
“You can’t tell me a Kingdom Hearts A native port is not possible if you look at how NieR runs 1080p on dock for switch”, answered another.
Of course the Kingdom Hearts Games are already available on the Switch, via Streaming cloud technology intended as a workaround to run games that are too demanding for the handheld console’s hardware. Though the prospect of having Sora and his crew on the road was a dream come true for fans, those cloud streaming switch ports proved to be a nightmare.
Since the launch of the Switch cloud versions of Kingdom Hearts players reported in February severe latency issues and startup crashes. The cloud ports played so terribly for some die-hards Kingdom Hearts Fans for directly advising other players not buying the games on the switch.
It’s hard to blame Kingdom Hearts Fans for getting upset that Square Enix was giving a mostly PlayStation 2-era game the lackluster cloud port treatment Nier: Automataa full-fledged PlayStation 4 title, gets a native Switch port.
“I have to imagine that’s the reason [Tetsuya] Nomura has always had those CH Team is taking care of the ports directly and they’re getting a heavier load now while PlatinumGames has the bandwidth,” YouTuber Liam Allen Miller tweeted. “But yeah, not a great look, especially for the PS2 titles.”
kotaku has reached out to Square Enix and Nintendo for comment.
Only time will tell if Platinum Games’ award-winning action-RPG will meet the same fate as Kingdom Hearts when it comes to its Switch performance. If so, I’m sure some players will make it a meta-gameplay challenge in the real world, similar to what they already do in the existing versions of by Sabotage their HUDs. Maybe this is the start of the crappy framerate challenge.
Nier: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition launches on October 6th for $40 on Nintendo Switch and is already available for pre-order on the eShop.
