King Charles was apparently caught mumbling his true feelings as he welcomed British Prime Minister Liz Truss for an audience.
A meeting between the pair on Wednesday night seemed to get off to an awkward start when Truss – widely pilloried for overseeing sterling fueling – curtseyed and shook hands with the king.

Truss was sworn in by Queen Elizabeth on September 6, just two days before the death of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
When the young prime minister met the king, Charles was heard saying, “Back again?”
“Well, it’s my pleasure,” Truss replied.
“My goodness, oh my,” replied the king.
The new figureheads are scheduled to hold weekly meetings where Truss will provide government updates.
Not only has Truss faced economic turmoil, but members of her own party are beginning to turn against her.
As she took the king’s hand, she said, “Your Majesty. It’s nice to see you again.”
The king seemed to be speaking for the nation when he replied, “So you came back again?”
Truss replied: “It is my great pleasure”.
Charles continued to bow his head and say, “Oh dear, oh dear. However…”
Prior to his accession to the throne, Charles was known as one of the most outspoken members of the royal family, particularly on environmental issues.
However, after he was proclaimed king, he passed this charity and responsibility on to other family members.
As head of state and having sworn in 15 prime ministers, the late Queen Elizabeth remained strictly neutral on political matters.
The king appeared to “reflect everyone’s feelings” with his comment, according to the online statement of support.
“One might assume that His Majesty is absolutely right,” said one.
“He’s not wrong,” added another, while a third tweeted, “He really wants to say ‘What the hell are you doing?!!!'”
Meanwhile, attentive fans watching the meeting between the King and Truss also noticed a surprising detail in the background of the briefing room.
A portrait of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex could be seen on a table.
The picture showed the family at the Sussex wedding in 2018, taken at Windsor Castle.
Pictured are Harry and Meghan with Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince William, Princess Catherine and Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte are also in the photo, along with other flower girls and bellboys.
Prince Louis was not present as he was born just a few weeks earlier.
“Glimmer of Hope”
The other photo on the table was of the Queen with her three heirs at the time, Charles, William and George.
After the Sussexes left the royal family in 2020, Charles reportedly saw “tremendous glimmers of hope” when the couple returned to Britain after the Queen’s death.
A source told The Telegraph there are promising signs of a breakthrough in the frosty relationship between the UK-based family members and the Sussexes, who live in the US.
“There have been tremendous glimmers of hope over the last 16 days or so,” the source said in September.
“As for the future, there is hope for a cause of unity.”
The source added: “It remains the case that King Charles loves his two children,” a point made clear in his first televised address to the public in his new role as monarch.
Charles paid tribute to Harry and Meghan in his speech, saying, “I also want to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives abroad.”
Some observers also viewed the reunion of the “Fab Fours” outside Windsor Castle as an “olive branch” from William and Catherine.
