Kevin Keefe Murdered Carrie Keefe, Killed Himself: Cops

Keefe Murder-Suicide

Authorities in Strongsville, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, are investigating a shooting that left three girls in the local school district orphaned over the weekend. Police said they are investigating the case as a murder-suicide.

Strongsville Police said in a press release that an 911 call was received just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday reporting the fatal shooting. Authorities said they found it Carrie Keefe and Kevin Keef shot at the scene.

Police said Kevin Keefe, the suspected gunman, was dead at the scene; Carrie Keefe was found unresponsive and dying. Intervening paramedics tried to save the victim, but the mother-of-three died at a nearby hospital. Police said one of the girls was the 911 caller and identified her father as the shooter.

WJW reported that Carrie Keefe filed for divorce in October 2021. Added WOIO that the estranged couple had agreed to sell their home on Calderdale Lane just 12 days ago. Filming took place in this house just days before a scheduled phone meeting.

An email from Strongsville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Cameron M Ryba, what was put onlinesaid the murder-suicide was “tragic” and “devastating” in its “far-reaching” impact on the community and the Keefe children.

The superintendent also said crisis advisers would be available all day Monday:

Dear parents and colleagues:

Our community suffered a tragic loss yesterday with the deaths of Carrie and Kevin Keefe in what the Strongsville Police Department is investigating as murder and suicide. When lives are lost in such devastating ways, the impact can be far-reaching. The effects can affect both adults and children, which we feel should not be affected. It’s also important to remember that such events can affect people with past or current life situations that make them more prone to feeling sad, alone, anxious, or depressed. CLICK HERE for a parenting toolkit to help you support your child during this time.
To support our students and staff, our school counselors are available in all buildings for those who need help processing this event. We will also give more support to the buildings where the Keefe children go to school. Crisis Advisors are available all day Monday, April 4th at Chapman, SMS and SHS.

As a school district and community, we need to support one another. Please think of the family and the Keefe children, and please reach out to your school counselor if we can be of any assistance to you or your children as you process these events as a community.

sincerely,
dr Cameron M Ryba
Superintendent
