James Harden was often criticized for being out of form and now a recent report has revealed that Kevin Durant was also struggling with Harden’s form.
Former Brooklyn Nets big three Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and James Harden have been reported not having the best of conditions for most of the season. This was partly due to Irving’s part-time play, but more recent reports state that tensions between Harden and Durant began during this time training camp.
According to a report published by ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz, Durant wasn’t happy with Harden’s lack of fitness.
“Durant was amazed at Harden’s lack of explosiveness and sluggish play in the first few weeks of the season, which he attributed in large part to Harden’s out of shape and resulting hamstring problems,” Arnovitz reported Tuesday.
This isn’t the first time someone has spoken out about Harden’s weight. When Harden was part of the Houston Rockets, his performance was often the topic of conversation. And sometimes it was credited to his poor play on the pitch via For the Win.
James Harden and Kevin Durant never solved their problems
According to Arnovitz’s account, Harden did not care about Durant’s view of his conditioning. He thought it self righteous.
Arnovitz also reported that Harden and Durant never resolved their issues, despite head coach Steve Nash, teammates and others trying to step in to smooth the situation, according to Sports Illustrated.
Harden was eventually traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Nets received Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Andre Drummond in return.
