Ketlen Vieira slams Miesha Tate in decisive win at UFC Vegas 43

Former women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate facing 7th ranking Ketlen Vieira during Saturday’s UFC Vegas 43 main event at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Tate is about to retire and return to the Octagon in July for the first time since November 2016. She defeated Marion Reneau by TKO. With the win, Tate returned to the divisional rankings in 8th place.

Tate had trouble getting into Vieira’s reach and length. Tate picked up the pace but was caught with her right hand as she tried to close the gap. She presses forward and connects with her own shots but Vieira’s punches clearly deal more damage.

Tate also had success with his right arm throughout the five rounds. She pressed forward with coordinated plays while Vieira comfortably counter-attacked. Towards the end of the second frame, Tate begins to find a way to bring down the fight.

In the third half, Vieira continued to find a forehand house for her. Tate tried to put Vieira on goal but hit hard in goal with his knee hugging Vieira’s body.

In the final two rounds, hurt was evident on Tate’s face. At the end of the fight, Tate was slashed below his left eye, which was almost swollen and had a bloody nose.

Tate’s goal in returning to combat is to regain the title she once held. That target hit a serious speed bump on Saturday.

“I did my best tonight without success. She is the better woman. The hat is given to her. She was great,” Tate said in the post-match interview.

“This is just a well-timed moment,” she said. “We all have moments in our lives. This is a time and opportunity for me to grow. I had a great time tonight. It’s a great opponent. What more can I say? I went home, kissed my two children. Life is good. ” Ketlen Vieira slams Miesha Tate in decisive win at UFC Vegas 43
