UFC Vegas 43: Ketlen Vieira vs. Preview and Prediction. Miesha Tate.
UFC Vegas 43 will close the curtain against UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Event Featured by Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate, when she’s up against rising contender Ketlen Vieira.
In July at UFC Vegas 31, Tate earned his first UFC win in more than 5 years with a successful comeback against Marion Reneau. Tate got a third-round stoppage-time victory over Reneau, marking his second win in the one-round in a UFC octagon.
Tate took a long hiatus from the sport of MMA after losing in consecutive fights to current women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, as well as Raquel Pennington in 2016.
On Saturday, Tate will seek her second victory of 2021, as she faces a tough test against rival Vieira, who is currently seventh in the UFC women’s bantamweight division.
Preview Ketlen Vieira vs. Miesha Tate
Vieira is 5-2 since making her UFC debuted in 2016, with four of her five wins coming in the way.
Vieira is about to have a disappointing decisive loss to Yana Kunitskaya at UFC Vegas 19 earlier this year. Vieira lost up to 3 kg in that appearance and will be looking to avoid consecutive losses for the first time in her professional MMA career.
For Tate, the former Strikeforce has stood out as 6-4 since her return to the UFC in 2013, with four of her six wins coming in the way.
Sports books such as WynnBet opened with Tate as the significant underdog in this match. Still, money continued to pour into the former champ, who should have shut down as a light bookie for the first time since beating Holly Holm at UFC 196.
Although Vieira hasn’t been at her best lately, it is widely assumed she will be back and has rallied again since that bad performance in February. Given her ranking and potentially even higher, it would be fair to call this fight one of the biggest fights of Brazillian’s UFC career.
If Vieira can manage to weather the early storm that Tate will bring in the early stages of the skirmish, her chances of success will increase dramatically as the fight continues. While Tate proved her fighting career is far from over in her UFC comeback in July; that’s a far different scenario on Saturday.
Tate will go from fighting a 43-year-old man about to retire, to fighting a starving 30-year-old Brazillian sniper in Vieira. Vieira leans against the wall, and will likely see this fight as an opportunity to recover with a victory over a notable name. Although it should have been a very close skirmish, Vieira should retreat in the later stages of the fight and win a decisive victory.
Prediction: Vieira by decision.
