Kochi, July 21, 2022: Kerala Blasters FC is ready to start its pre-season preparations ahead of the 2022-2023 Indian Super League (ISL) season. The club will begin pre-season training in Kochi on August 1 and will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) until mid-August for friendly matches against UAE Pro League clubs Al Nasr SC, Dibba FC and Hatta Club of UAE First dispute apportionment. The team, led by head coach Ivan Vukomanovic, will train for 12 days at the Al-Nasr Cultural and Sport Club. The pre-season tour is supported by H16 Sports.

The first pre-season friendly for Blasters will take place on Sunday, August 20, 2022 at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai against Al-Nasr SC. On August 25th they meet Dibba FC at Dibba Al-Fujairah Stadium and the final is scheduled to take place on August 28th against Hatta Sports Club at Hamdan Bin Rashed Stadium. One ticket will be issued for all three games.

The United Arab Emirates are like a home away from home for Kerala Blasters FC due to the large number of fans they have in the region. The final game of the 2021-2022 ISL season between Kerala Blasters FC and Hyderabad FC was also shown at the Dubai Expo 2020 to over 10,000 viewers. The club sees the pre-season games as an opportunity to engage their passionate fan base in the UAE.

H16 Sports Chairman Hassan Ali Ibrahim Al Balooshi said : “Our aim has always been to promote the great sport of football and we are delighted to be working with Kerala Blasters Football Club. We warmly welcome you to your pre-season tour in the United Arab Emirates. This event will bring together some of the biggest clubs and players to compete in the pre-season, thereby opening a new chapter for Indo-Arab football clubs to train and ensure world-class competition and facilities while also reaching a large fan base audience .

Karolis Skinkys, Kerala Blasters FC Sporting Director: “There were different venues for pre-season abroad but we chose UAE for different reasons. The club’s initial plan was a less than two-week camp with three friendlies, also played this pre-season. I am happy that all our UAE fans can come and be part of us at the stadium. This pre-season game is crucial for the club and all of our fans and it will help us to test the limits of our team as well.

This is the first time in 3 years that the Blasters will face off in front of the UAE crowd, giving the UAE fans the much-anticipated opportunity to welcome their Blasters heroes. As for the Blasters, with the pre-season expected to start on August 1st, those UAE games will pose a tough challenge for the club as they prepare for the upcoming 2022/23 Hero Indian Super League.
