‘Keep it clean’ Kareem Abdul-Jabbar reveals the toughest obstacle facing the NBA and advises the league to stay authentic

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar expressed his satisfaction with the current state of the National Basketball Association during a meeting NBRPA Event at the NBA All-Star Weekend held in Salt Lake City last weekend.

He said: “I don’t think they have a lot of challenges just to keep it clean, you know. The league sold the game and the players really impressed athletes around the world.”

“I think that’s a great achievement. Hire people who are doing a great job selling the game all over the world because it’s in now.”

Jabbar, the legendary center, played 20 seasons for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers. He is a six-time NBA record Most Valuable Player and a 19-time All-Star. He was there as a player six NBA championship teams.

Jabbar firmly believes that the game of basketball should maintain its authenticity in order to continue to attract interest and talent from around the world.

After 20 seasons in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers, renowned center Jabbar capped his career with a remarkable six NBA Most Valuable Player Awards and 19 All-Star selections.

As a player, he won six NBA championships and contributed to two more as an assistant coach, earning him the prestigious title NBA Finals MVP awarded twice.

“It’s something that doesn’t take long to learn if you really want to learn it,” Kareem Abdul-Jabbar explained of the game of basketball.

“I now look at all the players from Europe who play in the NBA just because they taught you the basics. From there it goes on.”

He emphasizes that maintaining the game’s authenticity is critical to its continued success.

“It stays authentic [is key]’ Jabbar said.

“Become a face of the league and [eliminating] A bad element, you know, that becomes the face of the league is good elements. Not many bad things happen.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was an exceptional basketball ambassador throughout his illustrious career and into his retirement. That was evident in his interview during NBA All-Star Weekend.
