Kansas meets North Carolina in the national championship on Monday night in New Orleans.
The No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks plays the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels Monday night at the 2022 National Championship.
The notification from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana will be made at 9:20 p.m. ET, 8:20 p.m. CT. TBS will carry national television coverage of the championship game. For the Jayhawks, this is their first appearance in the national championship since 2012 and they are attempting to win their first national title since 2008. A Monday night win would be the sixth in school history and the second under Bill Self.
As for the Tar Heels, this is their first appearance in a national championship game since winning it all in 2017. A win over the Jayhawks would give the Tar Heels their seventh national title in school history. Obviously it would be the first with Hubert Davis as head coach as he has taken over for the legendary Roy Williams this season. It’s amazing that he plays for you at all.
Here are the betting odds for the national championship game as well as a final result prediction.
Kansas vs UNC Odds
According to WynnBET, the Jayhawks are a four-point favorite at a neutral spot. The associated moneylines for this game are Jayhawks -190 and Tar Heels +160. The over/under of this game totals 151.5 points. The odds makers clearly believe that while Kansas is the slight favorite, they expect North Carolina to put up a fight and bring it to victory.
Kansas vs. UNC Prediction
While there’s a chance North Carolina can take that momentum with it after its Final Four win over Duke to retire Coach K, no team has been playing better basketball lately than Kansas. Villanova may have been exhausted en route to the national semifinals, but the Jayhawks were rarely challenged in that game. For UNC to win, Brady Manek and the boys better be ready to put up a tough fight.
Prediction: Kansas 80, North Carolina 74
