Jurickson Profar’s injury update reveals Padres star avoided disaster

The San Diego Padres provided an update regarding outfielder Jurickson Profar being carried off the field during the team’s July 7 game with an injury.

There was a scary incident that took place during the July 7th game between San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar collided headfirst in teammate CJ Abrams’ knee while trying to catch a flyball. Profar attempted to walk off the field under his own power, but collapsed. He was later carried off the field, where he gave the crowd a thumbs-up.

Less than a day later, the Padres revealed that Profar had been discharged from hospital overnight and had been diagnosed with a concussion and a cervical strain.

The team haven’t provided a timeline for Profar’s return as of this writing.

The incident happened in the top of the fifth inning when Giants infielder Tommy La Stella hit a flyball to left field. Profar wanted the dive catch, but Abrams ran into the outfield and stuck his arm out to make the catch. At that moment, Profar’s jaw touched Abram’s knee.

Profar was then placed on a backboard and carried off the field after attempting to run away under his own power. He gave the crowd at Petco Park a thumbs-up as he was brought in for medical attention.

This season, Profar is posting .242/.343/.397 and has eight home runs, 38 RBI, 50 runs made and 75 hits in 83 games.
