“These guys are the worst in the league,” Profar told reporters. h/d that Chronicle of San Francisco. “They can talk, but as soon as you try to throw things, it’s different. I was really angry. I’m a happy guy, but when I get angry it’s different. That thing really pissed me off.”
The incident began at the end of the third inning, where the crew chief met with Profar, who pointed out the baseballs and beer bottle on the field and noted the direction the debris was coming from in the outfield bleacher. After the game, Profar said it happened after he tried to throw a baseball to a Padres fan between the innings.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end. In the seventh inning, Profar chased a double strike from Luis Gonzalez and a beer bottle was thrown onto the field but didn’t land anywhere near the Padres outfielder.
Unfortunately, this is becoming more and more common at professional sporting events as there are fans who just don’t know how to behave in public. Luckily, Profar wasn’t hurt because the people recklessly threw debris on the field.
