JuJu Smith-Schuster Agreement Not Exactly What It Was Reportedly

As reported by Pro Football Talk, JuJu Smith-Schuster’s contract with the Kansas City Leaders is less than what is reported.

The Kansas City chiefs have seen the rest of the AFC West get tougher and tougher at the start of the 2022 league year. The organization decided to donate quarterback Patrick Mahomes. another receiver to target in JuJu Smith-Schuster, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was reported to be a one-year, $10.75 million contract.

But by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the contract is actually worth $3.25 million, with $2.49 fully guaranteed at signing. Additionally, Smith-Schuster could earn $7.5 million in incentives.

Florio writes that Smith-Schuster received a $1,455 million signing bonus, a fully guaranteed base salary of $1.035 million, a $250,000 workout bonus, and a roster bonus every year. match is $30,000. He did not have full details of the Smith-Schuster offer. but did say that at least $2 million of the $7.5 million “hinges for the captains to at least make it to the AFC Championship.”

Smith-Schuster was about to play five games, and he was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury. However, he came back just in time in the Steelers’ Wild Card game against, ironically, the Chiefs.

During his five seasons with the Steelers, Smith-Schuster caught 323 of 471 goals in 3,855 yards and 26 touchdowns.

Regardless of the deal, Smith-Schuster remains a member of the Captains for the 2022 season, where he will be on the field alongside Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and Travis Kelce to catch passes from Mahomes in what will become an extremely competitive AFC.
