It was revealed that Ne-Yo’s request to hold his estranged wife Crystal Smith in contempt of court was denied by a judge.
The “So Sick” singer was upset that his estranged wife publicly discussed their split on platforms including interviews with TMZ and podcasts with Carlos King that he went to court to stop her.
RadarOnline reports that the judge did not willfully violate the court’s gag order at the hearing in a Georgia courtroom last week and was not required to remove the offensive social media posts accusing her husband.
In his request, Ne-Yo stated that Smith’s public statements damaged his reputation and caused him to miss “approximately $400,000 in salaries related to public appearances, professional bookings and publicity related to the promotion of his new music project.”
Though the judge didn’t order Smith to delete her posts, “he [the judge] instructed both parties not to make any public statements or derogatory remarks on social media, podcasts and other platforms,” RadarOnline reported.
After the news broke, many individuals offered Ne-Yo advice on how he could have prevented this situation.
“Solution: don’t cheat”
“If your image was so important, why did you do it?”
“Well, if he hadn’t been all that, she might not have posted it.”
Smith slammed the “Miss Independent” singer on her Instagram page back in July for allegedly cheating on her with “numerous women who sell him their bodies bare.”
She went further and accused him of having “a narcissist mentality.”
In August, Smith formally filed for divorce from Ne-Yo, claiming he “recently fathered an underage child with his mistress.”
Ne-Yo and Smith officially became a couple in 2014 and spent eight years together. The couple share three children; two sons, 6-year-old Shaffer and 4-year-old Roman; and a daughter, 1-year-old Isabella. Ne-Yo also has two other children with former partner Monetta Shaw.
