Josh Sargent has had a rough start at Norwich City. While his side are mired in the Premier League’s relegation zone, he has also struggled to score and seen his game time stretched. This leads to Gregg Berhalter removes him from the U.S. men’s national team roster for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers– next Sunday’s match in Canada can be streamed on Supreme +.
But in the important relegation battle with Watford, Sargent had a big explosion to help Norwich City win a jubilant 3-0 victory. Things are looking for the Canaries under the leadership of Dean Smith as they’ve won two games in a row and only managed their fourth win of the season. Sargent opened the scoring for Norwich in the 50th minute with a scorpion-style free-kick that looked like it was about to explode.
Nominate that man for the Puskas Award. It was a confident finish for a player whose pace is moving and working to become a top striker in the Premier League, he only needed to score a few goals below his strength for the match. Fighting can become many times easier. Berhalter said of the goal during his national team press conference that,
“We saw him score today and it was fantastic for him and his confidence,” Berhalter said. “It’s great for Norwich, who are in a difficult situation in the league.”
Sargent will find another goal when he heads home Daniel Bachmann from long range.
It was a game where Sargent was everywhere and with more performances like this he not only showed Berhalter what he lacked in the national team but also kept Norwich City in the Premier League. . Next up for the Canaries is a trip to Wolves on February 5.
