Jonas Brothers return to ‘SNL’ when line-up drops in April

Jonas Brothers return for a Saturday Night Live performance!

After several years wowing the show’s audiences in 2009 and later in 2019, the musical trio, along with alum and host Molly Shannon, have been revealed as the stars taking the stage next month. The beloved band, which was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January, consists of brothers Kevin, Joe and Nick.

The Jonas Brothers are making an ‘SNL’ comeback four years after their last stint

“SNL” fans have begun preparing for the show of a lifetime after NBC announced the Jonas Brothers would return to the stage on April 8th. The trio would be joined by Shannon, who will subsequently host the comedy sketch series. She left as a cast member in 2001.

The ‘A Good Person’ actress made her hosting debut in 2007, and several cameo appearances have followed, including one in April 2020 which she attended via Zoom for music producer Hal Willner’s tribute.

As fans count down the days to the return of Shannon and The Jonas Brothers, they’ll be excited to see Abbott Elementary star Quinta Brunson and musical guest Lil Yachty perform on April 1st.

Later on April 15, the stage will be headlined by Ana de Armas along with musician Karol G – real name Carolina Giraldo Navarro. The big news was shared across SNL’s social media pages, including Instagramwith the caption “πŸ”œπŸ”œπŸ”œ”.

The excitement in the post’s comments section was palpable, as one person gushed, “Crying tears of joy for Molly Shannon. My comedy queen idol since I was a kid!” A second fan wrote, “We love seeing all the female cast,” while many others await Karol G’s performance.

As if that excitement wasn’t enough, each brother took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the news with Joe Write“I’m bringing some songs from THE ALBUM to the @nbcsnl stage on April 8th!!”

β€œI returned to @nbcsnl on April 8th with @jonasbrothers. Let’s get it!” Nick writtenwhile kevin added, “So excited to be back at @nbcsnl on April 8th!! Let’s go!!”

The What A Man Gotta Do hitmakers made history when they reunited for a performance and acting cameo on SNL in 2019 after a five-year breakup. The former Disney stars had reminded viewers of their talent in ‘Judge Court’ – a parody sketch of syndicated court shows.

At the time, Joe had tweeted, “What a Dream Come True (Again)”, along with a backstage pic of him and his brothers wearing matching red outfits. The tweet received nearly 28,000 likes, and many fans praised the band for their powerful rendition of their 2008 song “Burnin’ Up.”

“I’m not even gonna lie I just cried watching the Jonas Brothers sing ‘Burnin’ Up’ on SNL,” one viewer tweeted of the iconic moment. A second person pointed out that Joe’s vocals on the song are “straight πŸ”₯”.

Per E! NewsNick, Kevin and Joe also performed “Sucker” and “Cool”.

The MTV Video Music Award winners prepare for their upcoming concert

The explosion reported last month that the bandmates had a five-night concert at the Marquis Theater beginning March 14. The trio dubbed the event “Jonas Brothers On Broadway = 5 Albums 5 Nights”, referring to their intention to play hits from a different album each night.

To this end, the “Camp Rock” actors explained that on March 14 hits from “Jonas Brothers”, on March 15 – “A Little Bit Longer”, on March 16 – “Lines, Vines and Trying Times”, on March 17 – “Happiness Begins”, and March 18 – “The Album”. In the joint statement announcing the movement, the boys wrote:

“Your boys are back in town πŸ—½ We’re coming to Broadway and playing at the Marquis Theater March 14-18!! Each night will focus on a different album and we will play all the hits. Believe us when we say you don’t want to miss these shows…”

Though fans were beyond ecstatic about the five-day engagement, it seemed like practice for their upcoming US tour, which is set to kick off in August. The tour, which will be heavily focused on The Album – their forthcoming work – will have 60-70 dates.

The highly anticipated album will be officially out in May and will feature tracks like “Summer Baby” and “Miracle”. The Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream and Jonas recently released a song from their forthcoming sixth studio album Wings in February.
