For those who have been following Ruffo’s cancer journey for a while, some of the images would be familiar.

But others have offered a fresh look at the singer and actor’s life, showing the good moments, the tougher moments, and everything in between.

A frequent feature of the montage is his girlfriend and “Rock” Tahnee Sims, who was by his side as he underwent repeated treatments for brain cancer.

Also featured in the video are his friends and family, as well as some of the year’s special moments, including the release of his memoir No Finish Line and his appearance on Dancing With The Stars.

In between there are fun dinner dates, fireworks, interstate flights, a Billy Joel concert, book signings and a visit to Rottnest Island in Western Australia.

But there are also images of Ruffo receiving radiation treatment or lying on a hospital bed after chemotherapy, looking tired but able to give a smile or a thumbs-up at the camera.

It was also the year the former X Factor contestant revealed his cancer diagnosis was terminal – and the year he vowed to move on and keep the fight going.

“You are an inspiration mate. Have a brilliant 23’s,” Cameron Daddo wrote, adding, “Carn the Bombers,” a nod to Ruffo’s favorite AFL team.

“You keep breaking it, bro. A really real blue inspiration,” adds fitness guru Cam Byrne.

“Hero,” added actress Colette Mann.

“Wishing you and Tahnee a wonderful 2023 full of good friends, lots of fun, prosperity, love and laughter,” one fan wrote.

“My husband was just diagnosed with cancer. You showed us how strong you are and with a real will to live Johnny you are an inspiration to many,” shared another follower.

Many others agreed.

“Happy New Year! You are an inspiration with your fighting spirit,” said one fan, while another wrote, “Love your attitude mate.”

Ruffo and Sims spent Christmas in Perth with Ruffo’s family, where he reunited with brother Michael for the first time in several years.

The couple also took a trip to Rottnest Island and described their time at the WA tourist destination as “beautiful”.

On December 7, Ruffo announced to his fans that he had completed his chemotherapy for 2022.

“Another year of chemotherapy behind us. It wasn’t easy, but I made it,” he wrote.

After the publication of his memoir, Ruffo was asked why he titled it No Finish Line.

He said the book’s title means it’s “not the end.”

“I understand that the cancer is incurable,” he said.

“But you know, I’m going to do whatever I can, and I’m currently doing whatever I can to kick it’s ass.”
