John Harbaugh likes the prospect of Vikings hiring his brother
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is fine with a little competition, even if it means letting his brother Jim Harbaugh return to the pro ranks.
Jim Harbaugh is a lover of landing Minnesota Vikings job as head coach, replacing Mike Zimmer and thus inheriting a team ripe with talent on both sides of the ball. Minnesota isn’t far out of the playoffs, and with the travel changes it’s certainly possible to achieve that goal as early as next season.
Harbaugh’s brother John, who is also the Ravens head coach, believes Jim is the right man for the job.
“If the Minnesota Vikings were smart enough to hire him, it would be a wise choice,” Harbaugh said.
Will Minnesota Vikings Hire Jim Harbaugh?
Harbaugh took less money to bet against himself at Michigan, and it paid off well. It also allowed him the opportunity to make one final shot at the NFL.
The Dolphins were said to be an early favorite to hire Harbaugh, as he had a relationship with Miami’s owner, Stephen Ross, who is himself a Michigan man. But when Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was hired as Vikings general manager, Minnesota immediately became a contender.
Adofo-Mensah worked with Harbaugh while they were both in the 49ers, and they remain good friends. The opportunity to build an opponent together might be too good to pass up, and Harbaugh wants a team that’s ready to win now. A glance at the list shows Vikings as his all-time best player at the Super Bowl.
Harbaugh is reportedly not looking for complete control of the roster, thus allowing Kwesi to build the team in his image. If anything, a happy reunion between the two and the right amount of money could get this deal done in the next few hours.
And now, the wait is still going on.
