Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck is recovering in hospital after collapsing on the pitch during the 1-0 win over Reading on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred midway through the second half at Madejski Stadium and the match was halted for some time while Fleck received treatment.
Sheffield United tweeted at the time: “Regarding the moments of urgent medical attention for John Fleck. The game has yet to restart but the Scottish midfielder has stood his ground and received further medical attention.”
They then added: “John Fleck left the field on a stretcher after receiving urgent medical attention. We’re always with you, Flecky!”
NS The blade, who was leading 1-0 at the time, continued to witness the victory and gave Fleck all three points.
After the game, Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic revealed that Fleck was recovering in hospital – and even asked what the final score would be.
“He was conscious, he asked for results,” Jokanovic speak. “He wants to know and we hope that everything will be fine.
“Things are going really fast and he is in good hands. I cannot comment further. But, I repeat, he is in safe hands and we clearly hope everything will be fine.”
Reading manager Veljko Paunovic added: “The experience was traumatic and horrible. I hope that John will soon return to his normal life and return to playing football as well as I know he can and did.
“We send our best wishes to him and his family,. We sincerely hope everything is fine.”
Fleck has been a steady fixture on the Blades this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal and one assist.
