Apparently aside from being a 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, a surprisingly decent rapperand occasionally intangible to the human eye, John Cena is also a great character for the Metroid Series.

According to Dan Ryckert, the giant bomb Cena, creative director and former WWE podcast producer, told Nintendo officials he would love to play a new 2D Metroid Game during his 2017 photoshoot for the Nintendo’s Switch “Unexpected Places” ad..

The kicker: “When Metroid horror When it came out years later, a copy was sent to him,” Ryckert said on Twitter. “The people at Cena sent back an email saying, ‘John loves it.'” .

Krysta Yang, a former Nintendo employee, confirms Ryckert’s tweetsaid: “He said how much of a Metroid he was a fan. He’s a really nice guy!”

This isn’t the first time the Doctor of Thuganomics has spoken openly about his fondness for video games. Back in 2008, Cena gushed about his love for old-school games like the real-time strategy classic Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. The then-WWE Champion went on to cut some sort of promo for games like Driving me crazy, Tecmo bowl and Baseball Stars He said the game is the essence of what he stands for: “Build a huge army and destroy a lot of shit.”

kotakureached out to Cena for comment.

Over the years, the designs for Cena’s WWE merchandise — you know the ones Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a WWE Superstar-turned-Hollywood actor, doesn’t admonish for being them equivalent to toilet paper-was inspired by artworks Super Mario Bros. 3 and other classic Nintendo games.

Perhaps the Samus/Cena appreciation goes both ways, considering that Metroid horror one of her new skills phantom cloak, allows her to pull off a “You can’t see me” herself (useful to avoid being spotted by the sneaky EMMI robots chasing her). Sure, I might be reading too much into things, but tell me with a straight face that if Cena got back in the ring, you wouldn’t lose your shit if he did his five “morphball morph” doom moves. would add .
