In honor of this upcoming moment, he shared a touching story on twitter about what the film and the experience mean to him.
Votto recalls that he “grew up” with the film. As a young boy, he often played tag with his father, describing it as “the most important thing [they] have done together.”
The 38-year-old then went on to write an emotional sentiment, which read: “In Field of Dreams, the film ends with the main character Ray and his father’s ghost having ‘a catch.’ My father died over 14 years ago. So it’s impossible for me not to feel an emotional connection to the moment Ray asks his dad for a catch. Just a moment together.”
