Joel Embiid tweets perfect meme after return, 76ers win Game 3

After returning and leading his team to a Game 3 win over the Miami Heat, Joel Embiid used the perfect meme to let the world know the Philadelphia 76ers are back.

The Philadelphia 76ers were without star and NBA MVP darling Joel Embiid in the first two games of their second-round series against the top-seeded Miami Heat. Embiid suffered a fractured eye socket and concussion in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Toronto Raptors. But by Game 3 on May 6, Embiid made his triumphant return to the Sixers’ starting lineup.

On his return, Embiid helped lead the 76ers to a 99-79 win over the Heat to reduce their series deficit to 2-1.

After the game, Embiid took to Twitter and posted a popular meme from hit series The Wire to let the NBA world know that the 76ers are “back.”

Embiid had already been beaten for most of this playoff. Early in Philadelphia’s series against Toronto, Embiid suffered a torn ligament in his right thumb, which will require surgery at the end of the season. Then he recorded the concussion and eye socket fracture in the series clinch game.

On the day of Game 3, reports suggested that Embiid had cleared the concussion log and that he would see if he could play after warming up. Sure enough he was good to go.

In 36 minutes of play, Embiid had 18 points (5/12 from the field, 8/10 on free throws) and grabbed 11 rebounds to secure a double-double.

The 76ers will look to level the streak with a Game 4 win on Sunday, May 8th. Joel Embiid tweets perfect meme after return, 76ers win Game 3
