Jimmy Korderas Recalls Scary Moment During WWE Trip to Iraq

In a recent episode of The Wrestling Inc. Daily, veteran WWE referee Jimmy Korderas shared a story about his time working Remembering the soldiers. He revealed a terrifying moment that took place while he was inside the ring.

“On the show, I refereed the game between Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit, it was amazing. What we didn’t expect was when we were about to get to a commercial stop, suddenly here, these planes were flying overhead. That we didn’t know was going to happen,” Korderas confessed. “So I started saying, ‘Oh my god, what’s going on here?’ Then I looked at Chris and Eddie and they said, ‘what’s going on here?’ And we all think, ‘we’re under attack here, are we in trouble?’

“Someone from the ring had to get up and say to me, ‘Listen, we’re fine, we’re fine, this was planned.’ Glad you told us about it,” said Kororderas. “Because all three of us in the ring were like, ‘we’re being attacked here? Should we get into the ring? ‘ So we didn’t know about it. I guess they wanted a natural response. They got one anyway, and they almost got more than they bargained for. ”

Jimmy Korderas also shared more details about that particular trip, admit it was a proud moment. He also discussed the sleeping arrangements that were provided.

“One of the proudest things I have ever done with WWE, is to participate in Remembering the soldiers especially. Especially the one we did when we flew to Iraq to Victory Camp, to perform live in front of the troops there. It was great because we got to meet some wonderful men and women there. We had to stay in one of Saddam’s Palaces,” he revealed. “Yes, this is where they brought us up. Let me put it this way, all the furniture is pretty much gone except for one giant chair that looks like royalty, which people have photographed in.

“However, in the rooms, due to lack of furniture, we all slept in cots. It’s not a big deal because if the workers and women can do it, so can we. But per room, the boys were in one room and we were in the room with the crew and everyone. Each room has a king-size bed,” he said. “We are looking for and our leader, all 5 years old, he commands the king size bed. We were like, ‘Come on, you have to be kidding me.’ In the other room, they had a king size bed, which the ‘Taker had, he is our leader, people say, ‘it’s your bed, you take it.’ “

Although one member of the crew believed they would get a king-size bed, that was not the case. Jimmy Korderas reveals that another WWE Superstar is over with it.

“The only problem is that the Big Show is also on the trip,” he said. “So Big Show walked into our room and he said, ‘hey, how’s it going,’ then he looked over at the king size bed and said, ‘You guys have a king bed. Oh, no.’ So Big Show spent the night in our room.”
