Jim Cornette explains why AEW viewership is falling

AEW took the world by storm again in 2019 as it was the first professional wrestling company in a very long time to make waves in the world of pro wrestling as a form of competition for WWE. It was certainly a risky endeavor as there was always the possibility that it would turn out to be a crushing failure.
Tony Khan’s company has all the momentum in the world right now thanks to the launch of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole on their roster. This has ensured that the roster is one of the most prolific in all of pro wrestling.
It looks like AEW’s momentum may be running low considering AEW Dynamite’s recent performances. Last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite lowest gain ratings for the company since May, with only 861 thousand viewers watching the show.
While speaking on his podcast Jim Cornette Experience, Jim Cornette explains why AEW ratings have recently continued to fall. It’s ultimately due to the company having all of their top stars appear on television every week, which detracts from their overall freshness.
“People always ask me on Twitter,” Cornette, ratings dropped even when your boys, Punk and Danielson were on the show. “I mean, I said earlier that they’re making them less special now. In the last 4-5 weeks, they again dropped from 1.2 million to 800,000. They put themselves in a position where once something works for them, whether it’s someone on TV or whatever, they come back for a couple of weeks, and then they take away the freshness and turn it around. back 800k.
I’ve been saying this for months, it’s a stereotype. New talent, big names, hotshot deal, 1.2 million, and then they drop back because you can’t hotshot weekly and have a surprise debut every week. And if they hold back, hold back so CM Punk only struggles once in three weeks. Wouldn’t you be happy to hear a Punk commercial? Are not! Instead, they use up and go back to where they started. And then they bring in the next product and the ratings go up again because it’s not the match, it’s the launches that are usually brand new within the company,
Tony Khan has also previously stated that he has a lot of long-term plots planned in AEW. We’ll have to wait and see if AEW can fix their current problems.
