Jet boat crash video shows chilling moment of high speed craft flipping and overturning at West Coast Jet Sprint Club in Baldivis

A shocking video has captured the horrifying moment when a high-speed jet boat went out of control and rolled into a sprint club south of Perth.

Dylan Schmidt was racing with his 16-year-old cousin Jayden Meyers at the West Coast Jet Sprint Club in Baldivis on Saturday night when the pair’s boat got stuck on a corner while traveling at around 100mph.

Onlookers watched in horror as the boat spun out of control and only stopped when it crashed into a safety barrier.

A security crew rushed to help the cousins, who escaped the ordeal with minor injuries.

Driver Jayden suffered cuts and bruises while his navigator Schmidt was taken to hospital with a broken nose. He was discharged from the hospital on Sunday morning.

“As soon as I got out, blood was pouring out of my nose all over the place,” Schmidt told 7NEWS.

“It was overwhelming how many people came — the entire security crew, the ambulance and everyone else — to make sure we were okay,” added Jayden.

The pair say they are “so lucky” to avoid more serious injuries and credit their luck to their helmets.

“If we weren’t wearing the protection that we are wearing, we wouldn’t be speaking here today,” Schmidt said.

“It could have been so much worse, but the safety gear these days is absolutely insane,” Jayden said.

The cousins’ boat was not so lucky, suffering several dents and a gaping hole.

The fall was the third at the venue this year, but sprint club president Jason Furnell said the sport’s thrill-seekers used industry-standard safety gear.

“The boats have the roll cage, the seats, the belts so everyone’s strapped in nice and tight, it’s pretty close to any other motorsport standard,” he told 7NEWS.

“They are designed to take a hit and unfortunately sometimes they can be fixed and sometimes they can’t.”
