Jessica Szohr Talks About Podcasts “Gossip Girl”, Vanessa Backlash and Why The Show Was So Successful

Jessica Szohr: Everyone is very excited about these books being made into a TV show, there are already a lot of people watching these books. I was worried. All these kids worked together, it was in New York City and I could just go and do three, four episodes. So I’m excited to do a new project, bring this character to life, meet some people for a few months and then go my way. Then when they asked me to stay and do a regular series, you became friends with the cast and you were living in the city and then the show type exploded. There’s a lot that goes with all of that – fun, exciting, scary, and crazy.

television: Yes, the legend is Gossip Girl The ending is constantly being changed because people keep figuring it out. Remember the excitement and pressure of the fans at that time?

JS: We have the best fans. Honestly, without them, the show wouldn’t be as successful or as successful as it once was, they were so engrossed. There are also reporters and people who want to reveal the plot and the like because there is so much talk around the show. There was a time, I can’t remember what season it was, but we wouldn’t get our lines the next day because they didn’t want the plot to leak. We’ll get the side and it’ll say “Dan,” and then it’ll be all x for whatever he’s saying, but that’s not the dialogue. It will then say “Vanessa,” and how many xs, two lines, or a paragraph. So you can tell if you talk a lot, but we won’t get our lines until we start. That makes me very nervous, in a sense, because to prepare a shot and start moving, bring it to life, and be organic, you have to know what you’re talking about. . It was challenging and difficult, but we had to because everything was leaking. We’ll be wearing the outerwear from our trailer for filming, so people won’t see Serena’s outfit or Blair’s outfit to know where they’re coming or going.

television: What’s the most surprising fact about the show that you’ve learned so far doing these interviews for podcasts?

JS: Although I have read all the scripts and know the plot, you have forgotten a lot after so many years. There’s always a lot going on. Serena goes to Blair and tells her she killed someone, Vanessa is back, Blair is dating God, Blair loses her virginity with Chuck, Nate has an affair with an older woman, Lily is engaged to Bart, Eric back as gay and back from rehab, Georgina comes and stirs the pot. Every episode has a bomb dropped after every few scenes. But I was learning things from behind the scenes of some casting situations, and Leighton had to dye her hair brown so the network could see “Blair brown” because they thought of Blake for Serena… I cried because some things we’ve been through and done and learned, and we laugh about some of the bad things we’ve done, and it’s just a mix of emotions.
