Jesse Hart, Joshafat Ortiz choose commemorative photos in Philadelphia

Last Saturday night in Philadelphia, two-time world champion challenger Jesse Hart stopped David Murray in the third round of their super-middleweight match that became their cruiser.

Hart knocked out Murray with a short jab into the opener. Hart brought Murray back onto the deck in the third round when he hurt Murray with powerful shots followed by a hard left hook. Murray is having a hard time, and Hart feels it. Hart jumped on Murray and unleashed a series of powerful punches and the fight was stopped at 2:20.

Philadelphia’s Hart is 28-3 with 22 knockdowns. Murray of Wilmington, Delaware is 10-3-1.

Joshafat Ortiz remained undefeated as he won the decisive eight rounds against Rondale Hubbert in a junior welterweight match.

In the first seconds, Hubbert knocked Ortiz down with his right hand. It was the climax of the fight for Hubbert as Ortiz started boxing and moving very efficiently as he picked Hubbert from the outside. Hubbert would seek to hit a big shot, but he never came close to hitting the lightning again. Ortiz was able to prepare the rounds and come to a unanimous decision.

Ortiz of Reading, PA, won with scores of 58-55, 59-55 and 57-56 and he is now 8-0. Hubbert of Fargo, NC is March 14-19.

Nafear Charles won six innings unanimously decided against Jonathan Hernan Godoy in a welterweight bout.

Charles won at all cards 58-56 and now it’s 8-0-1. Argentina’s Godoy is now 5-12.

Steven Pichardo and DeWayne Williams tied for six rounds in a middleweight title match.

The score is 59-55 for Williams; 58-56 for Pichardo and 57-57.

Pichardo is now 8-1-1. Williams is 3-4-1.

Boimah Karmo remained undefeated with a four-round majority decision against Denzel Fudd in a welterweight bout.

Philadelphia’s Karmo won with scores of 40-36, 39-37 and 38-38 and is now 2-0-1. Fudd is 0-2.

Raekwon Butler won the decisive six innings against Derrick Whitley in a welterweight bout.

Butler, 140 lbs in Brooklyn, NY won with a score of 59-55 twice and 58-56 and now 4-1. Whitley, 144 lbs is now 6-3-1.

Edwin Cortes made a successful professional debut with a unanimous four-round decision against Jerrod Miner in a bantamweight match.

Cortes, 114.2 lbs of Millville, NJ won 40-36 on all cards and was 1-0. Miner, 117 lbs of Philadelphia is 2-13-2.

Felix Parrilla remained undefeated with a fourth-half goal against Ryan Venable in the final round of their featherweight superfight.

In the first half, Parrilla beat Venable with a hard left hook. In the third round, Parrilla deducted a point for low shots. Later in the round, Parrilla knocked Venable down with a perfect serve. In round 4, Parrilla defeated Venable with a body shot. Then Parrilla landed with her clenched right hands to put Venable down again. The fight stopped after a series of corner punches at 2:38.

Parrilla, 132.8 lbs of New Haven, CT is 3-0 with three knockouts. Venable, 141 lbs by Roanoke, VA is 2-9.

Jose Nieves won the decisive four rounds against Josh Aarons in a super bantamweight match.

Nieves scored the knockdown in the fourth round, and won with a score of 40-35 on all cards.
