JD Martinez gives Red Sox fans ultimate compliment as trade talks loom

While trade talks were rife, JD Martinez took the time to thank Boston Red Sox fans.
The MLB trade deadline is approaching and the Boston Red Sox are a team that is expected to move some of their veteran players. One of them is JD Martinez, who the team signed back in 2018 and is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.
Before the trade close, Martinez took the time to thank the Red Sox fan base, saying he appreciates “the love” and “the constant energy” and that he will miss them if he is to be traded.

JD Martinez Says Thank You to Red Sox Fans Ahead of MLB Trade Deadline
Boston had a rough season leading up to the close. When they entered the All-Star break, they didn’t win a single series against any of AL East’s opponents. They then played a disastrous series against the Toronto Blue Jays on their return from the break as they were outplayed 40-10 in three games.
On July 30th, the Jon Heyman of the New York Post tweeted that the Red Sox “listened to veterans” by listing Martinez, pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and catcher Christian Vazquez. What they all have in common is that their contracts expire at the end of the season.
This season, Martinez is posting .288/.354/.462 while recording nine home runs, 40 RBI and 98 hits in 87 games. Martinez won the 2018 World Series and was named All Star Game in four of his five years with Boston.
Whether he’s traded or not, Martinez wanted to take the time to thank Red Sox fans.
