Jason Spezza Gives Live Hearing For Neal Pionk . Knee

According to the NHL’s Player Safety Bureau, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Jason Spezza was asked to testify live via Zoom because of his knee-jerk with Winnipeg’s Neal Pionk. With this hearing comes the option to suspend players for five games or more.

Eric Engels wrote, “Never did we think we would see a day where Jason Spezza was given a five-match ban for anything, but now it is ready with an in-person hearing scheduled. ” That shows just how bad that game has gotten, and that officials’ failure to call leads to some problems among players trying to work out their problems on the ice.

Although Spezza doesn’t have any record in the NHL for dirty plays, that hit is definitely dirty and Spezza will be suspended. The question now is, how long will that pause be? A game rife with infractions, Pionk is due to testify today for hitting Rasmus Sandin, and Wayne Simmonds has been fined $2,250 for cross-checking Jansen Harkins.
