Veteran Jarvis Landry is still looking for a new home to play in this season, but it will be tough for the money he hopes to get.
Things are going perfectly for Jarvis Landry in his freelance agency. While he’s received interest from teams, Landry is yet to sign a contract and it’s unclear when he’ll finish the job and find a new place to call home.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Landry is hunting around $20 million a year with his new contract. With such a bargain price, it’s no wonder Landry hasn’t signed on yet.
NFL Rumors: Contract with Jarvis Landry
The radio market has gone up thanks to monster deals with Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill. Landry probably saw the numbers for them and guessed he might as well ask for a high price.
However, Landry doesn’t even come close to the kind of production that some of the best expansions in the game have delivered. Last season for the Browns, Landry appeared in 12 games for Cleveland and scored 52 touchdowns for 570 yards and two touchdowns.
Last year, Landry caught 72 balls from a distance of 840 yards. In 2019, he’s a Pro Bowler after scoring 1,174 yards and six points. If he’s been looking for a new contract after that season, then you could argue that he’s fit for a high-paying day.
However, that was three seasons ago, and Landry was no such player. Landry is still only 29 years old and still has a lot of good football, but it’s not like a football team pays him $20 million a year. He will have to lower his asking price if he wants to end freelancing in the near future.
