Jake Hager says things quiet down as Jon Jones finishes grappling, says maybe he wants a job in AEW

In an interview on “Throwing Down With Renee and Miesha,” AEW star Jake Hager was asked about the condition with Jon Jones and their suggested grappling match:

“I didn’t know what was going on because I was training,” Hager said. “I was ready. As far as I know, it was working, and then it went silent on his end. I don’t know if he looked at my resume and said, ‘Oh , this is a guy from Oklahoma. I don’t want to wrestle with him. ‘ Maybe he saw me wrestling for AEW and he was a bit scared. Everyone wants to work for AEW, so yes. maybe he wanted to get a job, so I was like, ‘Jon, get out of hiding. Prove that you’re still the GOAL and I’ll have a nice word with Tony (Khan) for you. .’”

Hager was asked when he first heard about Jon Jones challenging him:

“I was having dinner one night and got a call from my head coach, Josh Rafferty. He said, ‘I have a great situation for you. You should just say yes before I tell you what it is. ‘ I was like, ok, I love Josh, he’s a man, so I said, ‘Yes.’ He said to me and I said, ‘Yes, let’s make it happen.’ As far as I know, we’ve been waiting from then on to conduct negotiations and finalize things. He jumped the gun a bit and made announcements on Twitter when we didn’t have anything signed. I know my reaction is a bit harsh, but you have to say my name correctly, and you have to endorse my company if you want to work with me. ”

This is the tweet sent by Hager on November 20 in response to Jon Jones’ now-deleted tweet.
