Did Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant threaten a Twitter troll after Game 6? Unfortunately for Morant, screenshots last forever.
Morant missed the final games of the Grizzlies series against the Golden State Warriors, marking an unfortunate end to his season. Still, Ja is one of the young faces of the NBA, and his future hinges heavily on the league’s success.
But NBA Twitter is NBA Twitter. As great as Morant is, there will always be some fans trying to take him down a notch. Despite his injury, the Murray State product remained active on social media, cheering on his team from the Twitterverse and the sidelines.
In response to a troll’s comment regarding his back-and-forth with Warriors guard Jonathan Kuminga, Morant appeared to threaten the fan.
“It’s free to see what cavities feel like,” Morant wrote.
The tweet was screenshot saved and saved to a popular reddit post.
Hollows is likely a reference to bullets, and I’m sure Morant will hear about it from someone in the organization or the league office. Interacting with fans is one thing – heck, reacting negatively is allowed in today’s game – but what Ja did can be seen as a thinly veiled threat.
Grizzlies: Did Ja Morant threaten a fan?
Certainly Morant was caught up at the moment and has no plans to actually follow up on his tweet.
Smack Talk is exactly that and shouldn’t be viewed as something bigger. There is a line, however, and many would see Morant’s comment as crossing that line.
Morant deleted his tweet, meaning someone in his inner circle (or maybe Morant himself) realized that comment was inappropriate at the moment.
